Hide in list view?
TIAThis would just hide the report in the list view (which is the default view
in report manager). E.g. if you have a main report, which invokes several
subreports and you don't want the subreports to show up in the report
manager list view, then you would apply this setting.

hide column based on Parameter
I need an expression that hides a column based on the report parameter.
So, I add the following expression to column Visibility property:
=IIF(Parameters!active.Value = "Current", True, False)
Which gives me the following expression error:
"Input string was not in the correct format"
Any help is appreciated, I've already searched through previous newgroups
entries/bol with no luck.
Thanks in advance,
RobMy apologies.
Issue has been resolved.
Thanks, R

hidden ReportParameter where is it?
I'm coding up a WinForm using SSRS WebServices, and I have found I can't see a Hidden property for the ReportParameter
Anyone know how to read if a Parameter is hidden?
You can know that whether the report parameter is hidden or not by using the below code snippets.Dim pAs Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportParameterInfoFor Each pIn ReportViewer1.ServerReport.GetParametersIf p.Visible =False Then'Parameter is hiddenEnd IfNext|||
Thanks for the reply, but I'm having a little difficulity understanding why this is not available from Reporting Services Web Service.
I am looking up the details from reportservice.asmx WebService, and returning the information back to a List:
CatalogItem[] items =this.objRS.ListChildren(currentFolder,false);(Sorry it's in C#)
Where objRS is the RS WebServices.
Then I use
reportParametersArray =this.objRS.GetReportParameters(report, historyID, forRendering,null,null);
foreach (ReportParameter pin reportParametersArray){
p.Visible; // This odes not exist :-(
}
However Visible is not available using it in this way :-(
Why is it different, and what am I missing?

Hi,
You can get the visibility by adding a condition to the code you have written. Please find the code below. I hope this would help.
--
reportParametersArray =this.objRS.GetReportParameters(report, historyID, forRendering,null,null);
foreach (ReportParameter pin reportParametersArray){
if (p.Prompt =="") {
//Parameter is hidden }}

|||Perfect, thanks.
Why oh why the name change from Visible to Prompt?
|||It's something like a flag used for an internal manipulation.
Hidden Property - "Deserialization failed: is not a Valid Value" E
etc.. and then remove that same expression, I get the following error message
in preview:
"deserialization failed: is not a valid value..."
I get an option to edit the XML code. When I look at the code, I find the
<Hidden /> tag. But get this, there is no </Hidden> tag. Apparently, VS is
removing only one side of the Hidden tag when I delete the expression.
I used to be able to edit the code, but now I can't even edit the code to
take the remaining tag out. With this error my rdl file became, for all
intents and purposes, corrupt. Luckily I had posted it to a dev Report
Manager site earlier and was able to recover it.
Has anyone seen this?
Also, not being able to close VS2005 because of the the "Modal Dialog
Open..." box is killing me. Anyone have a solution to that yet besides
killing the devenv process?
Thanks in Advance,
bsod55I just had a similar error - I had to open the file and remove the Hidden
tags. In the IDE I right clicked on the file and selected Open from the menu
- this gave me the XML version and allowed me to remove the tags.

Hidden columns exporting in CSV
property is controlled by an expression (=Cbool(parameters.hidecol.value))
which works ok in Excel and PDF export. However, whenever I export in CSV,
this property is ignored and the column is never exported.
Is this a bug in reporting service or is it by design?
I have SQL reporting service 2005 with SP1 and all the hotfixes.Imran,
I got a reply from a MS contact on msdn. Here is his reply for anyone
else with the same problem...
John,
You can't conditionally hide and show data in data renderers (CSV,
XML). This is by design. If you have an expression in the Hidden field
and 'Auto' in DataOutput tab for text boxes in the column, your data
will not be rendered into CSV or XML.
You can set DataElementOutput to Output for textboxes in the cells and
in the header, and the coulmn will always be in the output file.
Thanks!

from Microsoft. Ofcourse I am aware of this issue and there are several
codable workaround for this... Was curious if someone had already done this
or if another hotfix is on its way to resolve this.

HELP? Space available: 0MB when ...
I am sure when this happens but now when I right click on a database and
select property, the space available= 0.00MB.
I still have physical space on the server.
When viewing the taskpad.
Space allocated:
data 5500MB used, 1700 MB free
log 15MB used, 300 MB free
Please help. Thank youif i remember something i read correctly, the database files are set to a certain size upon creation. any space that isn't used by working data is filled up with empty pages.
If the database isn't storing any more data, then it must be full. In this case you would need to set it to automatically grow when it gets full.|||I forgot to add that the data file and log file are set to automatically
growth by 10%.
Any other thoughts. Thanks|||For a database that size, I would set it to a flat growth rate (say 10 or 50MB, depending on how fast it grows). As for Enterprise Manager. I have not trusted the numbers it generates for a long time. I would not worry too much over it.
