Hide Parameters toolbar

How to hide specific parameters from the toolbar:

I use the following link, it hides the whole parameters toolbar.

http://ServerName/reportserver?/PPTReports/rptStatSU&rs:Command=Render&rs:Format=HTML4.0&rc:Parameters=false&eStatus=Open&UserName=jSmith

I have two parameters out of that would oike to hide just one of them which is username.

i am using sqlserver 2000 reporting services, i don't see that option hide.

Please does anyone know how to do it.

Thank you very much for the information.

No, in SQL Server 2k you can only hide the report parameters as a whole. In SQL Server you have the possibility to set the parameter to "hidden" or "internal", but if you don′t have the chance of migrating you are stuck to the option to switch of the whole parameter toolbar.

Hide matrix rows?

Hi,

can somebody help me figuring out if the following is possible?
I have a matrix creating weeks out on "x-axis" and projects at "y-axis". For each project have i specified three rows, sum(Fields!hours.Value), sum(Fields!used.Value) and a total saying (sum)Fields!used.Value - sum(Fields!hours.Value).

12 13 14 15 16
A 3 4 5 3 4
2 4 3 4 1
-1 0 -2 1 -3

B ... and so forth...

What i would like is to have only the total row displayed initially, and the through drill-down on clicking A being able to se the two columns used to calculate the total.

I can't seem to figure it out.

Hope somebody out there has an idea for this - or can say that it cant be done for sure.. :-)

Best RegardsYou need to set the inner group (in the group properties) to be initially hidden and toggle the group visibility on the textbox. Make sure you have subtotals turned on (click on the outer group and select 'display subtotals').|||Thanks for the answer, but I can't seem to get this right.

I think maybe the problem is that i don't have anything to group for. Theres nothing that i can group so that the three rows becomes one. They are all just different sums of the one row in the dataset.

Am i getting it wrong? If i select one of the three fields i cant seem to select the "toggle visibility".

Can you follow me?|||

You always have a group in the matrix. If you aren't using any grouping, then you probably should be using a table dataregion. Can you bring up the matrix properties? Also, you could give more of an idea what you are trying to do.

Hi Brian,

I have a similar problem and I wandered if you answer is what I might possibly need, but I haven't been able to implement it.

This is the part of my report. I have first group row being same company branch, second group row are clients and the third one is destinations where those clients were travelling. The measurement is the amount they spent on those destinations. This is the expanded version which look as it should. But look below for not expanded version and that is the one I have problem with.

hide column based on Parameter

Hello All,
I need an expression that hides a column based on the report parameter.
So, I add the following expression to column Visibility property:
=IIF(Parameters!active.Value = "Current", True, False)
Which gives me the following expression error:
"Input string was not in the correct format"
Any help is appreciated, I've already searched through previous newgroups
entries/bol with no luck.
Thanks in advance,
RobMy apologies.
Issue has been resolved.
Thanks, R

Hidden Property - "Deserialization failed: is not a Valid Value" E

If I add an expression to the visibility property on a text box, table row,
etc.. and then remove that same expression, I get the following error message
in preview:
"deserialization failed: is not a valid value..."
I get an option to edit the XML code. When I look at the code, I find the
<Hidden /> tag. But get this, there is no </Hidden> tag. Apparently, VS is
removing only one side of the Hidden tag when I delete the expression.
I used to be able to edit the code, but now I can't even edit the code to
take the remaining tag out. With this error my rdl file became, for all
intents and purposes, corrupt. Luckily I had posted it to a dev Report
Manager site earlier and was able to recover it.
Has anyone seen this?
Also, not being able to close VS2005 because of the the "Modal Dialog
Open..." box is killing me. Anyone have a solution to that yet besides
killing the devenv process?
Thanks in Advance,
bsod55I just had a similar error - I had to open the file and remove the Hidden
tags. In the IDE I right clicked on the file and selected Open from the menu
- this gave me the XML version and allowed me to remove the tags.

Hidden max number of columns in Management Studio?

Hi,
The following is observed in the SQLServer 2005 Management Studio Visual
Editor:
Open table (Right Click option on a table) fails when I try it on a table
with lots of columns in it > 820 columns! Currently the table has no rows
(empty table). The same table opens fine with sql 2000 enterprise manager.
This table has been migrated/imported from sql 2000 without any errors! Other
imported tables with less number of columns can be opened in the visual
editor!
Wondering is there a hidden limit in terms of number of columns with
SQLserver 2005 Management Studio (Grid) Visual Editor?
I get SQL Executaion error
Error Source: Microsoft.VisualStudio.DataTools
Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation
Is this a known behavior/limitation/bug? Is there a workaround?
Thanks

Hidden Ignored Words?

We are getting the dreaded "A clause of the query contained only
ignored words." error when a user searches for the following term:
"3.0" (without quotes).
I've checked all the noise word lists and "3.0" is not in there. "3" is
however.
Also, when one searches for "3.1" it's fine - no error.
When one searches for "3.00" it's also fine.
How can one explain this and which other "hidden" noise words should we
add to our noise word filter (in the search form)?
remove the 3 and the 0 from your noise word lists. You will need to rebuild
the catalogs!

|||Aha! It's because of the "." being a word-breaker - is that correct?
Shall I remove it from the noise_eng file? or the enu...
I also noticed that a standalone "#" was being treated as a noise word
and throwing that ugly error. Can you explain that one?
Many thanks
|||Yes . is a word or token boundary (actually there are some rules about
this). # is not a noise word when prefaced by a c, j or f.

Where is the complete list of these?
Currently we are fighting fires as these errors occur.

Hi Everybody, Sql Server 2005 SE installation problem

I faced the following problem while installing Sql Server 2005 SE

"Error 193 Installing .NET Framework 2.0" while installing Sql Server 2005

Please help me to proceed further

i have the same error. did you work around it?|||I am also having this problem. Has anyone else encountered this particular error?|||

Are there any log files created under:

%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG?

If so, you can start by looking at Summary.txt. It should give you some indication of which component failed. Then you should be able to delve into the specific log file of the failed component. If you'd like, zip up the LOG directory and send it to me and I'll have a look (jeff.papiez@.microsoft.com)

|||You can also try installing .NET Frameworks 2.0 directly by calling \Redist\2.0\dotnetfx.exe. This will give you the full UI installation of .NET Frameworks 2.0 which may have some better error messages.|||

What to do ?

Thanks

Hi

This might sound stupid but i copied the "SQL Server x86" folder from the DVD onto my local hard drive and ran the "\SQL Server x86\Servers\setup.exe" from the hard drive copy to install the server components. Lo and behold everything worked fine.

Hi Again parameter problem

i need pass the parameter for the following query. need to pass separately to year and quarter. from year to to year. parameters shoould b the fyear,fquarter,tyear,tquarter. coz user need to select those.

SET [CustomTimeSet] AS Descendants([Date—Fiscal].[@.Fyear].[@.Fquater]:
[Date—Fiscal].[@.TYear].[@.TQuarter],[Date—Fiscal].[month],Leaves)

Wick,

Why not you change in query as follow...

SET [CustomTimeSet] AS Descendants(

StrToSet(@.TimeRange),

[Date—Fiscal].[month],Leaves)

And Pass the complete string for @.TimeRange.

Bhudev

|||hi dev,
I need to pass year and quarter separately. those are separate multi values. how can i add year and quarter string together?
|||tried like this. but still have some error.

SET [CustomTimeSet] AS Descendants(strtomember(@.Fyear)+strtomember(@.FQuarter) : strtomember(@.TYear)+strtomember(@.TQuarter),[Date—Fiscal].[month],Leaves)

Wick,

In your case

Range operator ( : ) operands have different levels; they must be the same

You need to pass Same level in Range Operator. Here your start Range Level is Year and End Range is Quarter that's why it is giving error.

Well I'm giving some example for understanding.

SELECT

{[Measures].[MyAmount]} ON 0,

NON EMPTY{

Descendants(

STRTOMEMBER(@.Year),

[Time].[Time Calendar].[Quarter],

AFTER

)

} ON 1

FROM [MyCube];

SELECT

{[Measures].[MyAmount]} ON 0,

NON EMPTY{

Descendants(

STRTOMEMBER('[Time].[Time Calendar].[CY 2006]'),

[Time].[Time Calendar].[Quarter],

AFTER

)

} ON 1

FROM [MyCube];

SELECT

{[Measures].[MyAmount]} ON 0,

|||hi dev,
if so how can i pass year and the quarter ? it is better if u can edit my code and show?

Wick,

You need to use following MDX query.

Pass Quarter Values in Start and End Range.

When you will use this Query in SSRS then Year and Half Year Values will come in Result Set itself.

But you need to use Time Hierarchy for this.

SELECT

{[Measures].[MyAmount]} ON 0,

NON EMPTY{

STRTOSET(@.Quarter)

} ON 1

FROM [MyCube];

SELECT

{[Measures].[MyAmount]} ON 0,

NON EMPTY{

STRTOSET('{[Time].[Time Calendar].[Q1 CY 2006]:[Time].[Time Calendar].[Q4 CY 2007]}')

} ON 1

FROM [MyCube];

Bhudev

|||the thing is we have separate parameter for the Year and Quarter. then we have to give to select year then quarter. but i think there is no cascading selection in reporting. in our case user have to select year as well as the Quarter in the parameter dropdown. our part of the query is like the following,

SET [CustomTimeSet] AS Descendants([Date—Fiscal].[All Date—Fiscal].[2006].[Quarter 4] : [Date—Fiscal].[All Date—Fiscal].[2007.[Quarter 4],[Date—Fiscal].[month],Leaves)

in ssrs 2005 , if we create the parameter we have the combo in the report to select the value. then we created the year and quarter and we need pass that selected particular year and date to the report. we tried like the following
SET [CustomTimeSet] AS Descendants(strtomember(@.FQuarter) : strtomember(@.TQuarter),[Date—Fiscal].[month],Leaves)

this query is ok. but we cant give user to select year. that is the problem.

|||WITH

SET [CustomTimeSet] AS Descendants(strtomember(@.Fyear)+strtomember(@.FQuarter) : [Date—Fiscal].[All Date—Fiscal].[2006].[Quarter 4],[Date—Fiscal].[month],Leaves)

}'

SELECT
{[Measures].[Description],[Measures].[Amount]} ON COLUMNS,
[CustomTimeSet] on rows

FROM Profitability
WHERE [Account—ETBillingCode].[MDA]|||

Dear, Dear Wick,

So your Report will be for Single Year may have multiple Quarters of that selected year.

For Example: User Selects

Year: 2006

Quarter: Quarter 3

Then Report should display data for Q1, Q2 and Q3 of Year 2006.

So in that case you can manuplate the Year String internally. Suppose User selects 2006 then pass the value for Start Range as follow

[Time].[Calander Year].[Q1 CY 2006]

And then suppose user selects Quarter 4 then pass the values for End Range as

[Time].[Calander Year].[Q4 CY 2006]

So Start Range Quarter will be every time Very First Quarter.

So arange your Procedure/Front End Code which is passing the values in that way is easy.

Above Query will not work because of strtomember(@.Fyear)+strtomember(@.FQuarter) : this part
