Hide Pagefooter
I would like to show pagefooter on first page only. I tried with
Visibility -> Hidden = IIF(Globals!PageNumber=1,False,True)
It succesfully hide but showing space on other pages.
Please suggest any solution.
Kind Regards
ZahidWhen the report is rendered at run-time it will always display the
space allocated for the page footer, even if you set the Hidden
property to True.

hide my report toolbar
Hi.
i would like to configure my reports to hide the Toolbar. I'm not using any aspx page to contain my report, I'm just opening it from the server with IE.
is there a way to configure the report thet he does't have any tool bar?
Thanks,
Roy.
Look in the BOL for ULR parametrization, the rc:Toolbar=no should do the job.HTH, Jens SUessmeyer.

Thanks :)
i don't know what is "BOL for ULR ".
but the code was good (i used rc:toolbar=false).
thanks!
|||Just to add, BOL means Books Online which is actually the help of SQL Server. look for the URL access there.HTH, Jens Suessmeyer.

Hidden Rectangle causing blank page.
Hello all,
I'm running into an issue with a report we have, I was hoping you may be able to help...
We have a report that contains a rectangle which has conditional visiblity. When the expression evaluates to true, the contents of the rectangle are indeed "hidden", but we are seeing a blank page.
The rectangle does NOT have page breaks selected before or after it. (and neither does the objects before or after that rectangle.)
Any ideas?
Is this when you are viewing or printing?
Make sure that the hidden rectangle is somewhere within the page bounds of your report (and include margins in your calculations). Just a guess, but give it a try.

Hidden items, whitespace
Hi,
i have an issue with hidden items causing whitespace on the output of a report. The last page of the report contains a table, which may be hidden if certain conditions are met. However the final page is still rendered even though it contains nothing. The page does have a header and footer, but the page is still rendered if i also conditionally hide all the elements in the header or footer.
Ideally i would like the last page to not be rendered if that table is hidden. Is there any way to achieve this?
Thanks,
sluggy
Do you have a pagebreak before the table? If you hide the contents of the table, you would still get the last (blank) page. But if you hide the table (by setting table visibility property), you shouldn't get the page.Hidden Items Still Taking Space on The Page
I have a report where I have a rectangle witha bunch of lists and
textboxes on it which I hide on a certain case. The problem is, its
still taking space on the report page when the report is generated. It
doesn't appear, but I get a big empty space...
Is there any way to let the other items move up a little bit so I don't
have a big gap on my report?
Note: I can't add it to another table since I have lists on the
rectangle...
Thank you,Anyone has any ideas about how to accomplish this by any chance? I am
pretty stuckk...|||Can you try turning "Can Shrink" to true so that when there is no data that
it will shrink to a smaller size and let everything else move up?

Image and Rectangle doesn't have CanShrink.
Any idea?

Hidden columns/blank PDF page(s)
I have been trying for some time to create a columnar report where certain columns can be hidden as requested by the user. I have tried placing the complete column set in the report, and then hiding a subset of columns, but blank pages are produced when rendered to PDF since the report body does not appear to shrink as columns are hidden and justify themselves to the left. I have tried a table, list, and matrix to no avail...
Does anyone know of a workaround, a trick, or even a hack that may accomplish what I am after?
Thanks.
Oh well, guess there is no way to do it. I have seen many other posts of people trying to do the same thing. I wish someone from Microsoft would just say it's impossible so I could forget about trying to come up with a workaround... Doesn't seem like the functionality I am after is asking too much. Actually, I pretty much consider the PDF rendering the blank space to extra pages to be a rendering bug... Seems the renderer could be capable of clipping blank space... My 0.02 rant.|||I'm having the same issue so if anyone, especially someone from MSFT, has any ideas I'd be very eager to hear them.|||Hello Iago,
I have found a work around for this problem. It’s a bit hacky, but does work.
1.Collapse all table columns to the smallest they can go so width = .125
2.Resize the DESIGN gird to the smallest it can go
3.Set the CanGrow property = FALSE for each cell that has text.This will suppress the vertical size of the text to the row height that you have specified
4.Create a new report in the same project.
5.Create a dummy dataset in the sub report.I usually use: SELECT NULL
6.Pull a table onto the grid and delete all but one cell
7. Set the cell = “”
8.Set the column width to the column width you had in the original report say .625
9.Return to your original report and create an additional header on the report
10. Drag a sub report into each column of the new header cell and set it equal to the new report
11. Run the report.Hidden columns now only take up the .125 space.

hidden cell in excel
Hello,
Can someone please tell me why there's ALWAYS a hidden cell in Excel when a report has a more than one page?
for example, a report has 10 page breaks and after exported to Excel it has the first row hidden in each sheet except the first sheet.
Why this happens always? is there any workaround to avoid this?
thanks
I also have the same questions as the original poster.
How does one get rid of the hidden row in an exported Excel spreadsheet when there are page breaks in the report?
Thanks in advance.
|||Hey Guys.
Can you clarify this a little more? I have exported my reports to excel but I get one long continuous sheet even when my report has multiple pages.
I have notice however that excel does include your report page margins, So I'm taking a guess that this could be what you're seeing in your export.
Ham
|||Hey Ham,
Yes, one long continuous sheet in Excel, but the page breaks are there in the report definition for viewing via the Report Manager web site. We (independently, the OP and I) think that somehow the page breaks are influencing the "hidden row" phenomenon.
The hidden row presents itself in the exported Excel spreadsheet on "Sheet 2", where "Sheet 1" was the parameter detail information. If one inspects Sheet 2 (which is the actual data produced by the report), one would see that row 1 is hidden (perhaps a better word is collapsed; one can expand it by double clicking on the row separator in the left margin-ish area), row 2 contains the header row/column headings, then row 3 and beyond contain the actual data.
Our report users don't like that hidden row 1. I know that it would be easy to expand and then remove it in Excel but....you know users, they don't want it there from the get-go.
Thanks for any advice.

|||Hi,
Can it be that you are using Document Maps in your report? It might be that it are document maps that you see.

Although I didn't build the reports myself, I spoke with the author, and inspected the layout view (and RDL), and we are NOT using Document Maps.
Might there be another reason for the "hidden row" issue with exported Excel reports?

It is hard to say like that. Can you please mail or post the contents of the RDL file so I can take a look at it.

hidden cell in excel
Hello,
Can someone please tell me why there's ALWAYS a hidden cell in Excel when a report has a more than one page?
for example, a report has 10 page breaks and after exported to Excel it has the first row hidden in each sheet except the first sheet.
Why this happens always? is there any workaround to avoid this?
thanks
I also have the same questions as the original poster.
How does one get rid of the hidden row in an exported Excel spreadsheet when there are page breaks in the report?
Thanks in advance.
|||Hey Guys.
Can you clarify this a little more? I have exported my reports to excel but I get one long continuous sheet even when my report has multiple pages.
I have notice however that excel does include your report page margins, So I'm taking a guess that this could be what you're seeing in your export.
Ham
|||Hey Ham,
Yes, one long continuous sheet in Excel, but the page breaks are there in the report definition for viewing via the Report Manager web site.

|||Hi,
Can it be that you are using Document Maps in your report? It might be that it are document maps that you see.

|||Hi Geert,
Although I didn't build the reports myself, I spoke with the author, and inspected the layout view (and RDL), and we are NOT using Document Maps.
Might there be another reason for the "hidden row" issue with exported Excel reports?
John
|||Hi John,
It is hard to say like that. Can you please mail or post the contents of the RDL file so I can take a look at it.

HELP: ODBC Registry Error
some registry entries about sql server odbc driver was accidently
deleted by me. now, in the driver page of odbc data source administor,
i can not found the sql server driver in the list. for the reason, the
SQL Server 2000 can not complete its installation normally, and the
problem is that i need to install the software.
i don't know how do i fix the error. i've already download a MDAC RTM
from microsoft, but it stop installation and report: MDAC 2.8 RTM is
incompatible with this version of Windows. All of its features are
currently part of Windows.
can anyone please help me ( my system is Windows XP )For what it's worth, here are the contents of a working Windows 2000
MDAC 2.8 SQL Server driver settings - obviously you need to tweak the
path to the DLL's according to your setup.

Help: Multiple sub-reports creating extra blank pages on print
I have a project with multiple pages of reports. I am using one main page with all the other reports added through the sub-report control. The only problem is, after the first page and a couple of the other pages, it inserts a blank page in the print preview. If I view and print the reports seperately, and not all on the main report page they print fine, they don't roll over, don't print any extra blank pages. This only occurs when I add all them all as sub-reports. The last 5 pages don't suffer from this problem either.
Can anyone think of what the problem could be, or a way to solve it? All the pages are 8.5x11 with no margins. As I said, the pages alone print fine without any extra blank pages, so I'm confused why they would create extra white pages when added as sub-reports. The other thing is, I thought that perhaps pages having text that go all the way to the bottom were causing the issue, but some of the reports don't have text that extend to the bottom, so that rules that out.
I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.
We have seen a similar problem before. Can you try making the subreport element in the main report wider (enough to contain the entire subreport) and see that helps?|||The sub elements are all 8.5 inch,.25inch. The main report is 8.5,11 as are all the other reports. I initially had just placed them on there and they were seperated by a grid space or so, and their heights were all different (widths all stayed constant at 8.5). When I did this, though, the formatting was even worse and some of the reports would run into eachother. I would try making the main report length the size of all the subreports * 11 but I have 21 pages of reports and the maximum length is 160 inches.Right now my main report is setup with each sub report element set at 8.5,.25 and starting from the very top of the main report, they are placed one below the other right where the previous one ends.
|||Any MSFT people who can provide any help? :||||I'm sorry to bump this again, but I could really use some assistance. I've tried everything and I can't get it to work.|||Can you attach your rdls? That'd help us repro and investigate the problem.
